The Bolide is a rounded, zipped Hermès bag, sold on hermes.com as the Bolide 1923 in mini, 25 and 30, plus the Bolide Messenger and the Bolide Relax 45. UK prices start at £4,950 for the mini in Evercolor calfskin. The mini and the 25 appear online far more often than the other versions.
What is the Hermès Bolide
The Bolide is widely described as one of the first bags built around a zip fastener. Accounts of Hermès history credit Émile-Maurice Hermès with securing the right to use the zip in France, and the 1923 in the current product name points to that period. The word bolide itself is French for a fast car.
The shape is a rounded case with two handles and a zip running around the top. Most versions also have a strap: Hermès lists 84 cm without snap hook for the 25 and the 30, 105.6 cm with snap hook for the mini and 40–65 cm for the Messenger, while no strap length was given for the Relax 45. Materials range from Epsom and Evercolor calfskin to Mysore and Chamkilight goatskin, and hardware comes in palladium plated, Permabrass or yellow gold plated finishes.

Bolide 1923 mini
The Bolide 1923 mini measures 18.5 × 14.5 × 8 cm and has a 105.6 cm strap with snap hook, the longest strap in the line. It was listed in more materials and colours than any other Bolide: Evercolor calfskin at £4,950 (€5,050 in France), Mysore goatskin at £5,090 and Chamkilight goatskin at £5,830. Dune, Rouge De Cœur and Nata were confirmed only on the mini. In our records it is also the Bolide seen online most often, which makes it the practical choice if you want a Bolide soon.
Bolide 1923 25
The Bolide 1923 25 measures 26 × 20 × 10 cm, one centimetre wider than its name suggests and 7.5 cm wider and 5.5 cm taller than the mini. Its strap is 84 cm without snap hook. In the UK it costs £5,970 in Epsom calfskin and £6,070 in Evercolor calfskin. Vert Loden was confirmed only on this size, alongside Noir, Étoupe, Gold and Rouge H, which it shares with other sizes. Together with the mini, the 25 appears online far more often than the 30, the Messenger or the Relax 45.
Bolide 1923 30
The Bolide 1923 30 measures 30 × 23 × 13 cm, which is 4 cm wider, 3 cm taller and 3 cm deeper than the 25, with the same 84 cm strap. The only version in our reference is Epsom calfskin at £7,050 in the UK and €7,200 in France, £1,080 more than the 25 in the same leather. Colours confirmed for it were Noir and Étoupe. It is one of the rarer Bolides online in our data, so waits between listings are longer.
Bolide Messenger
The Bolide Messenger measures 26.5 × 20.5 × 9 cm, close to the 1923 25 in size, but its strap is listed at 40–65 cm. It was the only Bolide listed in Togo calfskin, priced at £5,870, €6,000 and $8,650, and a version in Barenia Faubourg calfskin appeared on the French store at €6,700. Its confirmed colours set it apart from the rest of the line: Gris Pantin, Vert Mangrove and Bai/brun, plus Étoupe. Unlike the 1923 sizes, it does not carry a year in its name, and it appears online rarely.
Bolide Relax 45
The Bolide Relax 45 is the travel bag of the line at 45 × 36 × 24 cm. Hermès listed it in taurillon Clemence at £7,040 in the UK with no strap length given, and the only colour we confirmed for it was Noir. Despite being far larger, it costs £10 less than the Bolide 1923 30 in Epsom. It is the Bolide we have seen online least often, which makes it the hardest version to catch in the online store.
Hermès Bolide prices
Prices on hermes.com differ by country and include local taxes, so pound, euro and dollar figures are not direct conversions. On the Bolide the material has a large effect: within the mini alone, Chamkilight goatskin costs £880 more than Evercolor calfskin. Most prices we found are UK prices; France publishes figures for some versions, and the US only for the Messenger.

The Bolide can be ordered directly on hermes.com. Most listings we record are the 1923 mini and the 1923 25; the 30, the Messenger and the Relax 45 surface rarely, so there are fewer chances to buy them. No restock is announced in advance, and a listing can disappear minutes after it goes up.

In a boutique, a Bolide may be offered from the shop’s own stock, which is separate from hermes.com. Buyers commonly report that leather bags are offered at the discretion of the sales team, but Hermès does not publish any rule, so treat such accounts as experience rather than policy.
