Hermès Nata

Nata is a pale Hermès cream, warmer and softer than a white. Product pages listed it for only five lines, mostly small pieces: the Bolide 1923 mini, Roulis Slim, Jige Elan 29, Constance To Go and Calvi Duo Compact. It appears online far less often than Craie or the darker neutrals.

What Nata looks like

Nata is a pale cream: an off-white with a gentle warm, slightly yellow cast. The word means cream in Portuguese and Spanish, which is a useful shorthand for the shade. It is clearly lighter than any beige and warmer than a chalky off-white.

The difference between Nata and other pale colours is small on a screen and easy to lose in photos. Cool daylight can make it look almost white, while warm light brings out the cream, so a listing photo on its own is not enough to tell Nata from a neighbouring shade. Nata across leathers

The lines listed in Nata are made in several leathers, including both grained and smoother ones. Hermès describes Epsom as having a small, regular and slightly glossy grain, Taurillon Clemence as semi-matt with a generous, irregular grain, and Swift as almost smooth with a delicate shine.

On a pale cream, those differences in grain and shine are easy to see, so Nata will not look exactly the same on every leather. We do not assess the colour leather by leather. Compare photos of the specific model and leather, and keep in mind that, like any pale leather, Nata will show marks sooner than a dark colour.

Similar colours

Craie is the nearest alternative: also pale, but cooler and chalkier than Nata, and listed for more lines, including the Evelyne 23 and Picotin Lock 18. For a warm colour that is less delicate to carry, Gold is the mid-tone tan brown, and Étoupe is the grey-brown neutral.
