The Picotin 18 is the smaller of the two Picotin Lock sizes sold on hermes.com and measures 18 × 19 × 13 cm. In taurillon Clemence it costs £2,700 in the UK, €2,750 in France and ¥578,600 in Japan. It is also the Picotin with the widest range of materials and colours online.
Dimensions and what fits
Hermès gives the Picotin Lock 18 as 18 cm long, 19 cm high and 13 cm deep, so the bag is a little taller than it is wide. The pocket version in Goeland canvas and Swift calfskin has exactly the same measurements. No strap is listed for either, which makes the 18 a bag you carry by hand.
Flat items fit less well than the numbers suggest, because the body is a rounded bucket rather than a box. A phone stands upright against the side, while a card case, keys and a lipstick sit on the base. A folded compact wallet goes in; a long continental wallet of about 19 cm will not lie flat.

Material, not size, sets the price of a Picotin 18. Taurillon Clemence is the entry point at £2,700 in the UK. Barenia Faubourg adds £290, the pocket version in Goeland canvas and Swift costs £3,280, and the felt and Swift version is the most expensive 18 we found, at £5,140.

Picotin 18 or 22?
The Picotin 22 is 4 cm longer, 2 cm higher and 4 cm deeper than the 18. Measured as a box, the 22 holds about 7,850 cm³ against about 4,450 cm³ for the 18, roughly three-quarters more space, while the Clemence version costs only £190 or €200 extra.
The 18 wins on choice. On the product pages we checked it came in 15 colours and three leathers, against six colours and Clemence only for the 22. It also appears in the online store far more often, which matters if you are waiting for one particular shade rather than any Picotin.
Leathers and colours for the 18
Three leathers were listed for this size. Taurillon Clemence is the drummed, grained leather of the standard version. Barenia Faubourg, which Hermès says acquires a patina and darkens in the most exposed areas, and Swift, paired with canvas or felt, appeared in the 18 only.
