What is the Hermès Evelyne
Hermès was founded in Paris in 1837 as a harness workshop, and the Evelyne comes from the same equestrian world. It is usually described as a bag first made for carrying grooming kit in the stables, named after Évelyne Bertrand, who ran the Hermès riding department. Its best-known detail is a large H cut out in small perforations on one face of the bag.
On hermes.com the line appears under several names worth knowing when you search: Evelyne 16 Amazone, Evelyne 16 Sellier, Evelyne 23 Poche III and Evelyne III 29. The Amazone was listed in taurillon Clemence, Barenia Faubourg and Grizzly suede with Clemence, while the Sellier version was listed in Epsom calfskin. Hardware comes in palladium plated, Permabrass and yellow gold plated finishes. Of the four names, only the 16 comes in two versions with different strap lengths.

Evelyne 16
The Evelyne 16 measures 16 × 18 × 5.5 cm, so it is taller than it is wide and only 5.5 cm deep. Hermès sells it in two versions. The Evelyne 16 Amazone has a 116 cm strap with snap hook and was listed in taurillon Clemence, Barenia Faubourg, and Grizzly suede with Clemence. The Evelyne 16 Sellier has a shorter 104 cm strap and was listed in Epsom calfskin. In our records the 16 appears online more often than any other Evelyne size, and it is the only size we confirmed in Jaune Milton.
Evelyne 23
The Evelyne 23 Poche III measures 23 × 24 × 6 cm: 7 cm wider and 6 cm taller than the 16, but only half a centimetre deeper. The extra width and height make room for a slim wallet next to the phone. Hermès lists it in taurillon Clemence at £2,890 in the UK and €2,950 in France. The 23 had the widest colour range we confirmed for the Evelyne, including Craie, Caban, Ébène, Vert Loden, Bai/brun and Rose Sakura, none of which were confirmed on the other sizes. The product page we checked gave no strap length for it.
Evelyne 29
The Evelyne III 29 is the largest size with current Hermès data. Despite the name, Hermès gives its dimensions as 28 × 28 × 9.5 cm, and it is the only Evelyne whose strap length is given as a range, 94–138 cm. At 9.5 cm deep it takes a full-size wallet and a small pouch. It was listed in taurillon Clemence at £2,990, €3,050 and ¥641,300, and in H canvas with Clemence at £3,100. It appears online less often than the 16 and the 23 in our records, and Biscuit was confirmed only on this size.
An Evelyne 33 also turns up in our monitoring, but only rarely, and we could not check a current Hermès product page for it, so we give no measurements or price.

Hermès sets prices per country with local taxes included, so the same bag costs a different amount in pounds, euros and yen. Across the Evelyne line, UK prices run from £1,720 for the 16 Amazone in Clemence to £3,100 for the 29 in H canvas and Clemence. Material moves the price within a single size: the 16 Sellier in Epsom costs £2,700, which is £980 more than the Clemence Amazone of the same dimensions.
