What is the Hermès Garden Party
The Garden Party is a wide tote with a top that stays open apart from a single press stud in the centre. There is no zip or flap, and Hermès gives no strap length for any size, so it is carried by the handles. That makes it quick to reach into, and less closed than most Hermès bags.
It comes in two constructions. The canvas version pairs Officier or Militaire canvas with Negonda calfskin, and the leather version is made entirely of Negonda. Hermès describes Negonda as the only Hermès leather obtained through shrinking: the skins are made to contract before tanning, which leaves them denser, with marked wrinkles and a firm, irregular grain. A Garden Party 30 verso in bicolor Officier canvas and Negonda was also listed. Hardware is palladium plated.

Garden Party 30
The Garden Party 30 measures 30 × 21 × 13 cm and has the most versions of the three sizes. Officier or Militaire canvas with Negonda costs £2,240 in the UK and €2,280 in France, all-Negonda costs £3,230 and €3,300, and the 30 verso in bicolor Officier canvas with Negonda is also £2,240. Ardoise, Vert Loden and Rouge H were confirmed only on this size. In our records the 30 is the Garden Party that appears online most often, by a wide margin.
Garden Party 36
The Garden Party 36 measures 36 × 26 × 18 cm: 6 cm wider, 5 cm taller and 5 cm deeper than the 30, which is enough for an A4 folder. In the UK it costs £2,440 in Officier or Militaire canvas with Negonda and £3,480 in Negonda alone, so moving up from the 30 adds £200 in canvas and £250 in leather. The Militaire version was also priced at €2,900 in France. Noir was confirmed only on the 36, and the size appears online far less often than the 30.
Garden Party Voyage 49
The Garden Party Voyage 49 is the travel size at 49 × 36 × 25.3 cm, 13 cm wider than the 36. It is made in H Plume canvas rather than the Officier or Militaire canvas of the smaller sizes, and costs £5,080 in the UK, more than twice the price of a canvas Garden Party 36. No leather profile or colour was confirmed for it on the product pages we checked. It is the rarest Garden Party in our records, seen online only occasionally.
Hermès Garden Party prices
Hermès sets prices per country and includes local taxes. For the Garden Party, the choice between canvas and leather matters more than size: an all-Negonda 30 costs £990 more than a canvas 30, while going from the 30 to the 36 in the same material adds £200 to £250. French prices were published for the 30 in all three standard materials and for the 36 in Militaire canvas.

Boutiques sell the Garden Party as well. Buyers commonly report that the canvas versions are easier to find in store than the leather ones, but Hermès has no official policy on this, and stock differs between boutiques and changes daily.
